There’s not an “I” in Ice Skating

This thanksgiving weekend in was big, cold, and blissful.

Spencer was focused on getting herself – and the family – to the ice skating rink. We made it 3 times in 4 days (it rained, snowed, and sleeked on Saturday).

The result. A flurry of friends – including brother – dad – and mom in skates.

Good for the heart in a number of ways.

New Adventures

The last few weeks of summer drip into fall…adventure is the thing we do best.

Daddie brought back some fun from his trip to San Diego.

Ashland has a long freight train parked on the tracks that were recently closed. We climbed up, down, and all around. Onwards!

Big journey to Pilot Rock (just north of the Oregon border). Steep hike for little legs…it was raining but we endured…up, up, up. And we ran down.

Ah, to be young, and old. All at the same time. Such is the life of a first-grader.

Our girl up in the tree in front of the house, which she can readily climb up and down by herself.

Our first play at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (12th Night).

Summer zipped right past so quickly. The crispness of fall is mixing with the bounty from local gardens at the end of summer.

Our son invents a new desert (home made chocolate ice cream with green pepper)

And lives to tell about it.

Summer is here, and the last day of school was today.

The Farm Spirit

The kids at Rogue and Spencer’s class journeyed to the farm (out in Petaluma) to visit the animals.

First step in the adventure. What kind of creatures live in the pond?

We like, frogs. This one visited us for a few moments as the first visitor of the day. And then, jumped back in.

All together now. Wool into yarn.

The team also made butter, fed the goats and cows, and visited the garden.

And, we napped in the car on the way home.

Media Gets the Boot For Real

We just arrived back to Berkeley from Spring Break adventure to visit the family in Oregon.

On our walk down to the store and local burrito shop, we noticed a sign of the times.

The mega newspaper stand had been removed from the corner of Vine and Shattuck in Berkeley.

Print is dead, for real…bet these kids will joke about “print news” by the time they are in college. Hopefully Wordpress is still working then.

Makes us one step closer to being free, media free. Now our walks down the block can be just a bit more peaceful.
